We’re finally at the point where Time Warner (TWX) is going to spin off AOL, which was originally the acquired in one of the most ill-conceived merger deals of all time. And now what happens? Comcast (CMSA) decides that it isn’t satisfied with creating a trend of increasing share prices. No, it sees a vacuum [...]

- Re: John Harris & Elizabeth Stubblefield as parents
Martin (Mastin) Harris and E. R. Harris need to come out of this list, as they are not in the correct family.
Mastin Harris and his son E. R. Harris came from Mecklenburg Virginia, and Mastin's father was James d 1803 there. Information:
patclare at aol.com - Re: Penny Isle Church
The Heritage has Peniel. The other probably got the letters transposed. It was surveyed in 1992. While there appears to be several tombstones, there are, according to the survey, 22 names on one monument and 15 graves maked with rocks. If you have other questions, please contact me directly at danriver@carolina.rr.com - Re: Penny Isle Church
That sounds right. Are there any oher names listed for that cemetery, as I would like to post it on Find A Grave and add my ancestor Miller Nunn? He was married to a Cornwell and the F. Cornwell that you said that was there and died in 1836, would have been his father in law.
What is the correct spelling as you have two different, Penile Methodist Church and Peniel Methodist Church.
Thanks so much for your reply!
So some stones were still readable when the DAR book was published?
Vicki - Re: Penny Isle Church
You may be thinking of Penile Methodist Church located on Narrow Gauge Road in Ruffin township. Fanny Cornwell (died 1839), John W. Cornwell (died 1853?), and F. Cornwell (died 1836) are buried there according to Cemetery Records, volume 2, published by the James Hunter Chapter DAR, Madison. It is listed in the Heritage book as Peniel Methodist Church formed 1838 near Lawsonville but became extinct by the early 1900's (page 58). danriver@carolina.rr.com - Penny Isle Church
I have an ancestor who family has said, was buried in the old Penny Isle Church Cemetery on the Narrow Gauge Road. It is no longer there and there is another church close to where this old church was.
Has anybody ever heard of this church? I want to post information on another site and I would like to make sure that I am spelling the name of the church correctly.
Thanks,
